The Wandering Village is a chilled out colony management sim where you build a settlement on the back of a giant wandering creature in a world overrun with toxic spores.
In The Wandering Village your planet has been ravaged by toxic spores and now you lead a small group of survivors who have found refuge on the back of a huge creature called an Onbu. The back of the Onbu is pretty flat and perfect for building a colony on (at least until the creature wanders somewhere more hospitable where you can settle down.)
You’ll gather resources, build useful structures and research new buildings as in other colony sims. However, there’s no warfare in The Wandering Village. Instead the real challenge comes from adapting to the environmental changes as the onbu wanders through different biomes in the world. The biomes can offer different challenges for you (such as a cold biome affecting the growth of your crops), though the biggest challenge can be dealing with the toxic spores that can kill your people. Technology is also a big factor, with some of the buildings you research having negative impacts as well as positives.
It’s a very unique take on the colony sim genre, with a wonderfully chilled out vibe, beautiful visuals and interesting challenges to deal with. Plus, building a colony on the back of a massive creature is a very cool concept. There will be a demo releasing on Steam on the 21st of February, but if you’d like to join in the Beta testing you can sign up now.
