There Was an Old Woman, a game created by Yumi and Zumi for the Ludum Dare 34 Challenge, is a very funny and very silly game that retells the classic “There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly” poem with hilarious consequences.
The game is narrated the whole way through and you must successfully completely difficult mini games based around the poem “There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly”. However, instead of following the poem in its entirety the devs go off script for a more comedic approach – including other things that got swallowed instead of their correct counter parts (a rhino for instance).
There Was an Old Woman uses a different control scheme for each of the short Wario Ware-esque mini games, each game more challenging than the last. Throughout it’s short playtime, it has a lot of moments that will make you literally laugh out loud, while others may have you just going “What The HELL??”. A very silly game that’s guaranteed to make you smile.
