This Means Warp is a cooperative roguelike space exploration and combat game that plays a little like FTL: Faster Than Light, but with each player taking control of a different crewmember of the ship!
Playable with up to four players in online or local co-op multiplayer, in This Means Warp you must work together with your crewmates as you traverse a procedurally generated universe full of hostile alien spacecraft. It shares a lot in common with FTL: Faster Than Light, with you having random non-combative and combative encounters and you attempting to upgrade your ship as you go. The game features permadeath and during combat you can target different parts of the enemy ships to disable them.
So far, so FTL, but the masterstroke of This Means Warp is that each player directly controls their own crew member. This not only does away with one of the more frustrating elements of FTL (ordering crewmembers around), but also gives a little more immediacy to the action.
It’s a fun looking game with a great cartoony Sci-Fi visual style and promise of plenty of co-operative space exploration chaos. If the game manages to nail FTL: Faster Than Light’s addictive formula of roguelike space exploration, this could be epic!
