TimeOut is a very stylish 2.5D pixel art Sci-Fi noir adventure set in a world where time is currency and if you run out of it then you die.
Drawing inspiration from The Last Night, Bioshock and the movie In Time, TimeOut takes place in a 50s America styled dystopian city where time really is money. In the game you take on the role of a private detective with only five minutes left to his name. This is particularly bad because your timer is always counting down and when it reaches zero then you drop dead. However, a new case has opened up which should earn you a little time, and there’s also a shady character hanging about on the streets offering to lend you some at a very reasonable rate…
Taking around 20 minutes to play through, TimeOut clearly borrows its time-is-currency core concept from In Time, but it’s a great little adventure nonetheless and it takes some interesting twists along the way. The 2.5D pixel artwork is fantastic and the amount of detail built into the city is incredible. It’s full of great little touches – such as buying drinks with money or the way you can instantly see the time everyone’s got left at the touch of a button. Time may be money, but you won’t regret spending a little time with TimeOut. Highly recommended.
