Total Anarchy hearkens back to the 2D top-down roots of GTA as you hijack cars, sell drugs, murder citizens and go on a crime spree in the violent streets of Pavillion City.
Previously featured on Alpha Beta Gamer a year ago, Total Anarchy has recently had a big update that introduces more story missions, drug dealing, more guns and more radio channels (among other things). In the game you take on the role of a newcomer to Pavillion City, who arrives with an aim of making some cash and staying alive. This second objective may be a little tricky as you go about your business you’ll piss off plenty of people – including three criminal organizations and (of course) the police.
The rather aggressive wanted system makes it a little tough to complete some missions and the car handling feels a little off at the moment (it feels like they’re connected to the ground at a point near the driver’s seat rather than by the wheels). However, these minor issues aside, Total Anarchy is a lot of fun – there’s a lot to do in the city and you can cause a lot of carnage during the police chases. One particularly impressive element is the bespoke GTA style radio stations with their own music and humorous radio hosts. GTA 5 is great, but it’s nice to return to the more arcadey feeling gameplay of the classic top-down GTA games. See what carnage you can cause in Pavillion City!
