Trelet: The Land of Words features a clever fusion of 2D platforming and Scrabble-esque word games as you create words out of letters you collect to use them as platforms.
Created for Ludum Dare 45, Trelet: The Land of Words blends wordplay with platforming as you attempt to collect nine stars and make your way to the exit. Words are used as platforms in the game, and although there are a few full words placed throughout the game world you’ll have to place your own to make your way between them.
You start with a handful of letters, which you use by placing them as you would in Scrabble (they have to be real words and they have to be connected to existing words). You can then use the new words as platforms as you make your way through the game world. You use up letters as you lay them, but you can collect more by finding them in the game world, trading stars for them and by making words that are over 4 letters long.
Platforming and Scrabble are an odd combination but it works remarkably well in Trelet: The Land of Words, making for a very addictive little game. A fun little test of your vocabulary and your platforming skills. Highly recommended.
