A new demo is available on Xbox for TUNIC – the beautiful isometric action RPG where a cute little fox embarks on an adventure that plays like a blend of Zelda and Dark Souls.
Previously featured on Alpha Beta Gamer a year ago, TUNIC is a delightful and surprisingly challenging isometric action RPG starring an adorable little fox in a tunic. Its main inspiration is the Zelda series, but you can spot some other influences in the DNA of the game – with Bloodborne inspired combat, FEZ-esque mystical foreign text and a sprawling interconnected world structure akin to Dark Souls.
The current demo build of Tunic takes around 30 minutes to play through and it’s an absolute delight. Its beautifully crafted isometric world is packed full of secrets for you to discover and the combat is satisfyingly challenging. There are lots of little trinkets to find and even a hidden boss fight that really takes some beating.
It’s been in development for quite a while now, but you can tell that TUNIC is going to be worth the wait. It’s taken inspiration from some greats and created something that already feels very special (even in its current unfinished form). By the end you’ll be dying to explore more of its world that’s tantalisingly just out of reach. Highly recommended.
