Unreal Engine 4 Zelda: Ocarina Of Time (Goron City & Kakariko Village) is another incredible fan made project from cryZENx, this time allowing players to explore the Goron City and pester chickens in Kakariko Village!
We’ve covered the work of cryZENx a few times now on Alpha Beta Gamer, with his other Unreal Engine 4 powered Zelda and Mario outings, but this latest instalment offers one of the most polished and interactive experiences yet. The Goron City area allows you to explore and chat to Gorons (who all say the same thing), but it’s Kakariko Village that offers the most enjoyment. It recreates the Kakariko Village with snazzy Unreal Engine 4 powered visuals, complete with the windmill, NPCs, smashable pots and chickens to abuse. The chickens are a particular joy to play around with as you can grab them, use them as a makeshift glider, throw them and attack them with your sword – be careful with that last one though, those chickens will only take so much before they snap!
This is very much a tech demo, so the gameplay is still fairly limited, but it’s a joy seeing another piece of the near 20 year old game world of Ocarina of Time recreated with such fidelity in a modern game engine. With this latest instalment and all of his previous releases, cryZENx has managed to recreate a large chunk of the Ocarina of Time game world now, including Zora’s Domain, The Temple of Time, Kokiri Forest, The Lost Woods and Hyrule Field – you could almost stitch them together to make the entire game world. Someone at Nintendo should really give him a job!
Note: before you can use your sword and shield you’ll need to enter the pause/menu screen and equip them!
