Unto The End is a beautiful and brutal cinematic action platforming adventure with read-react combat and plenty of ways to die as a father makes his way home through a monster-filled world.
Currently in development by 2 Ton Studios, Unto The End is a fantastic looking 2D action adventure with gameplay that feels fondly reminiscent of the original 2D Prince of Persia games. In the game you take control of a father who makes his way through unfamiliar and unforgiving lands in a desperate journey to return home to his family. It will be a perilous journey, filled with insta-death traps and challenging skill-based combat against deadly enemies.
The current build of Unto The End contains around 15 minutes of gameplay, starting with a quick combat tutorial and then seeing you attempting to escape from a treacherous underground cave system. Each enemy you meet offers a real challenge and you need to read their attacks, use directional blocking, roll-dodges and counters to defeat them. Button mashers need not apply!
Unto The End’s unique combat system takes some time to master, so it may not be for everyone, but it’s perfect if you’re looking for something with a bit more depth. The fact that there’s no such thing as an easy fight means that you approach each fight with trepidation and you focus on the combat rather than just hammering out the same old combinations of attacks. It looks fantastic and the lore of the game world is very intriguing too – particularly with regards as to something that happens towards the end of the demo. Highly recommended.
