Venice 2089 is a wonderfully chilled out adventure that follows a bored teenager as she hoverboards through a rustic futuristic version of Venice, helping people and finding a little direction in her life.
Created by students of the Event Horizon School in Italy, Venice 2089 takes place in the futuristic (but also quite rustic looking) city of Venice in the year 2089. The city was once popular with tourists, but due to the unpredictable nature of the tides nowadays the lower part of the city regularly becomes inaccessible, monuments are being taken away and there is very little tourism.
In Venice 2089 you take on the role of Nova, a bored and directionless teenager who is visiting her grandfather in Venice. You’ll explore the city on your hoverboard, perform tricks, discover lots of strange objects and help the various people you meet on the streets. As well as your hoverboard you also have a nifty little flying drone that you can use to grab out-of-reach objects (and scare birds!)
It’s a very pleasant experience hoverboarding your way through the streets of Venice 2089. The artwork and audio design are excellent, the characters are well written and there’s lots to discover as you skate around. It’s a lot of fun getting to know the characters and the city, and doing your bit to make it a better place for everyone.
