Vox Machinae promises an impressive mix of tactical simulation and responsive action as you pilot hulking mechs across hostile planets.
Set in a future where Earth’s resources have run out, Vox Machinae sees you piloting mechs (called Grinders) for powerful corporations who are attempting to mine resources from distant planets. These Grinders are massive and weighty machines, seven times taller than a T-Rex) and packing a customizable arsenal of lasers, missiles and cannons.
It’s playable on standard screens and VR sets, and really lets players immerse themselves in the Mech piloting experience. The Grinder’s cockpits are highly detailed, not only looking great, but also offering functionality as your monitors and equipment all work and can be interacted with. You’re also accompanied by a handy AI, who gives you the low down on the various planets you visit, points out enemy weak spots, warnings, gives damage reports and will even cracks the occasional joke,
In single player you’ll travel to different planets, navigate dangerous alien landscapes and do battle with rival companies. The online multiplayer modes include free-for-all deathmatches, team based battles and co-op scenarios. Don’t expect Titanfall-style agility from your mechs – these are far more realistic with a real feeling of weight and lots of glorious modular destruction as they clash.
It’s a very cool looking game that looks set to offer a satisfyingly weighty and immersive mech combat experience full of mech-on-mech carnage. Sign up tow to jump into the cockpit early!
