Zero Caliber VR is a very impressive new modern military FPS for Oculus Rift and HTC Vive that looks set to offer realistic weapon handling, co-op multiplayer, swappable gun attachments and an engaging narrative that sees you fighting in a dystopian near-future America.
Created from the ground up for VR, Zero Caliber VR is a first person tactical shooter set in a near-future where humanity has poisoned the water with microplastics and now people are fighting for drinkable water. Mercenaries and private armies soon appeared and then came the religious cults – the most dangerous of which is the Tlalokii, whose motto is “join us or perish” and who claim to know something that can change the fate of humanity. You and your fellow soldiers must strive to keep order in all this chaos.
You can fight alone or in online co-op as you make your way through the beautifully rendered dystopian America. Zero Caliber VR promises a hyper-realistic combat system, with you physically hiding behind cover and weapons that handle, aim and reload just like their real-life counterparts. You don’t simply press a button to reload, you physically go through the actions, with different reload actions for different types of gun. There’s a wide variety of weaponry too, allowing you to gear up according to your playstyle – from precision sniper rifles to dual-wielding machine guns (just be careful with that recoil). Also, customization is a big deal in Zero Caliber VR – you can physically slot in attachments to your weapons, modifying them on the fly.
As far as VR has come, the weapons in your hands never really feel realistic and the game worlds often feel like glorified shooting galleries. Zero Caliber VR looks set to address that issue and then some – whether you’re reloading your gun, slotting on an attachment or ducking behind cover, all of your interactions with your weapon and the game world are physical. This physically looks set to offer incredibly realistic combat that fully immerses you in the experience. Sign up now to grab your gun and show those cultists what for.
