Zero Protocol is a first person Sci-Fi survival horror adventure set in an Antarctic research facility that’s been overrun with infected humans and other freaky anomalies.
Drawing inspiration from System Shock, Half Life and Zero Tolerance, Zero Protocol sees you waking up in a research facility where a catastrophic event has occurred. It seems that the majority of the employees are either dead or infected with a contagion that turns them into bloodthirsty zombies. You now need to explore, scavenge supplies, solve puzzles, fend off attacks and figure out what happened there.
The Zero Protocol demo takes around 20-30 minutes to play through and plays like an immersive sim mixed with a survival horror game. At the moment the puzzles feel a little repetitive (generally just collecting keycards or figuring out codes for doors), and flashlight batteries that only last a few minutes should be a thing of the past by now. Aside from that though, it’s a very promising game. The retro visual style looks fantastic (especially when you see the zombies in motion, there’s a real sense of danger and there are some great little environmental touches. Antarctic survival horror well worth venturing out into the cold for.
